GLOBAL TENDENCIES, LOCAL REALITIES: REDEFINING PEACE IN A MULTIPOLAR WORLD

May 23rd, 2025                 Constanța (Romania)

In the context of an increasingly complex and globally interconnected world characterized by cultural, political and religious diversity, in which armed and religious conflicts are becoming unending realities, the concept of "peace" requires a profound re-evaluation from both philosophical and theological perspectives. The conference intends to explore new paradigms of understanding peace in a multipolar world order, aiming at an interdisciplinary approach that combines philosophical theories of peace with multi-religious theological perspectives in order to shape a conceptual and practically meaningful framework that promotes dialog, coexistence, tolerance. The impact of geopolitical transformations on the dynamics of interreligious interaction in the 21st century emphasizes the need for a theological rethinking of the contribution that religion can play in promoting peace. Thus, the conference proposes a collaborative model of analysis based on the synergies created by diverse spiritual and ethical traditions, capable of offering a viable alternative to prevailing conflictual visions. In conclusion, redefining peace requires not only a paradigm shift in political thinking, but also a revision of the fundamental assumptions - theological, philosophical - that underpin our understanding of peaceful coexistence. With a multilateral outreach (theology, philosophy, psychology, education), the conference hopes to generate debates and inspire initiatives that could contribute to building a new architecture of peace that is relevant at local and global level.
